Ancillary Tasks

I've finally chosen which two of the three set ancillary tasks I will do to support my main project:

- A cover for its release on CD

- A magazine advertisement for the CD

looking at music video narratives

These videos are simply references for me to look at for my music video for inspiration for narrative. For my narrative, I wasn't sure whether to have a story line about a characters (Ed Sheeran's video), completely focus on the artist who made the song (Ellie Goulding's video), focus a little on the artist, but have other things going on (Laura Marling's video), or to have the artist in the video but also with a storyline (James Morrisson's video), so I will look at these videos briefly to help me decide.

Artist not starring - storyline

Completely focused on the artist

focused on artist, but with things going on around them

starring artist in the video, but with a narrative and story etc

In my original idea, I was only going to have the one female character and no lip syncing, but after looking at existing acoustic music videos and seeing almost all of them have the artist starring in them and lip syncing, I have changed my mind and will aim to do the same.

Colours

I recently made a poll for the use of colour in my video and the audiences preferences; the preferences were (descending in no. of votes):
1. Red
2. Pink
3. Joint orange, green, blue and black
4. Purple
5. and white and yellow with no votes.

I made the poll for colours to mainly decide upon which I will use for the balloon in my video, and I already wanted it to be red, so seeing as it was the favourite colour in my poll things turned out for the best.

Red and pink (the two highest voted numbers) are usually considered to be quite feminine colours, which supports my ideas of using a female subject to the video whilst also appealing to a female audience.

Also, the colours red and pink connote love which strongly tie into the lyrics of my video that have recurring themes of love.
